Investigators are searching for a silver Toyota Prius V that struck a pedestrian on Glen Arbor Drive in Encinitas and fled the scene, leaving a 49-year-old man with major injuries.

The collision happened shortly after 10:15 p.m. Aug. 16 in the 400 block of Glen Arbor Drive, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune. The North Coastal Sheriff's Station said a silver 2012–2014 Toyota Prius V struck the man as he walked along the roadway. The driver did not stop.

The victim was taken to a hospital for treatment. No update on his condition has been released.

Deputies recovered a vehicle part at the scene believed to be a passenger-side headlight washer, the sheriff's office said. The suspect vehicle may be missing that part and could have additional front-end damage.

Overturned semi shut down I-5 southbound lanes

An overturned semi-truck shut down most southbound lanes of Interstate 5 near Encinitas Boulevard on Tuesday, Sept. 8, backing up traffic for miles, according to the California Highway Patrol. The crash left only the HOV lane open as crews worked to clear the wreck. A Sig Alert, a CHP traffic advisory for incidents expected to last 30 minutes or more, was issued for an unknown duration. Southbound traffic was backed up to Poinsettia Lane around 7 a.m.

No injuries were reported in available accounts of the incident.
