Shoots, the North County seafood joint and bottle shop, is headed to Leucadia with a new restaurant at 914 N. Coast Hwy 101, according to San Diego Magazine.
Co-founder Chris Slowey, CEO and principal designer of the design-build firm CLTVT, told the magazine the team hopes to open the Leucadia spot by fall or winter 2027. At least a year of construction lies ahead.
"We don't want to have the sign that says 'Coming Soon' for a year," Slowey told San Diego Magazine.
The new location will occupy a 1,300-square-foot indoor space with a 400-square-foot outdoor patio. The address sits at the corner of Leucadia Boulevard and the 101, one block from Beacon's Beach, according to SanDiegoVille.
ShootzFam LLC filed a Type 41 beer and wine license application with the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) on Oct. 27 for the address, SanDiegoVille reported. The filing marked the first public record of the project.
Shoots started in late 2021 as a kitchen window inside BottleCraft at Oceanside's Tremont Collective. The venture brought together chef Davin Waite, founder of Wrench & Rodent Seabasstropub, along with Slowey, retired professional surfer Cheyne Magnusson and other partners. A Carlsbad location at 2956 Roosevelt St. followed in 2023 as the brand's first standalone restaurant. In August 2025, Shoots took full control of its original Oceanside home at 602 S. Tremont St. after BottleCraft vacated, according to SanDiegoVille.
San Diego Magazine described the Leucadia restaurant as the brand's third location. SanDiegoVille's account notes Shoots now operates two locations, in Oceanside and Carlsbad, with Leucadia planned as the third.
The Leucadia menu will follow the same approach as the existing spots: tacos, poke bowls and daily specials built around locally sourced seafood. The restaurant will also feature a small bottle shop and 20 craft beer taps, including the brand's house Japanese lager, San Diego Magazine reported.
The brand is also simplifying its name. Slowey told San Diego Magazine that the former name, Shoots Fish & Beer, is being shortened to just Shoots.
Slowey told the magazine the long-term plan calls for four or five total locations. He mentioned San Clemente and Ocean Beach as possible future sites.
No building permit or planning application for the Leucadia site has appeared in public records as of publication. The ABC license filing and Slowey's comments to San Diego Magazine are the earliest public signs of the project.
