Lightscape, the mile-long illuminated trail at the San Diego Botanic Garden, returns for a fifth season running Friday, Nov. 20, through Sunday, Jan. 3.

Tickets are on sale now.

The garden announced the confirmed dates and opened its member presale on Sept. 17 through its official Instagram account, and general public tickets followed on Thursday, Sept. 24, through the Fever ticketing platform. Earlier coverage on Sept. 8 had noted only that a waitlist was open, with no confirmed run dates or installation count.

This year's trail features more than 20 brand-new light installations alongside returning favorites, including the Winter Cathedral. Visitors walk a self-guided path through the garden's grounds on Quail Gardens Drive after dark, accompanied by soundscapes and festive music.

Seasonal food and drink will be available along the route, including mulled cider and hot chocolate. The event has sold out multiple past seasons, the garden said in a Sept. 17 Instagram post.

Garden members save 20% on standard ticket pricing all season by entering their member ID at checkout. A waitlist that opened before the general sale offered 15% off standard tickets for 24 hours, according to the garden's Instagram announcement. Specific ticket prices for the 2026 season have not been published.

On-site parking is limited and paid. The Fever ticketing page recommends purchasing a parking pass in advance, noting availability at the door is not guaranteed.

The event is open to all ages. Wheelchair accessible routes are available, though some areas include dirt pathways and uneven terrain.

Lightscape runs nightly from Nov. 20 through Jan. 3 at the San Diego Botanic Garden, 300 Quail Gardens Drive, Encinitas.
