San Dieguito Youth Softball has opened registration for its spring 2027 season, with an early-bird rate of $225 for families who sign up before December 2026.

The regular registration fee for the 8U through 14U divisions is $250, according to the league's website. The 6U division costs $50. The Cardiff-based recreational league is open to girls ages 5 to 14 at all skill levels.

Player evaluations and team selections begin in January. Practices for the 8U through 14U divisions start in late January, and games open in February on Opening Day. The 6U/T-Ball division begins practice and games together on Opening Day.

The season runs 10 to 12 weeks and wraps with a tournament in late April or early May. The league typically schedules a one-week break during the Encinitas Union School District's spring break.

Most games and practices take place at Cardiff Sports Park. Some are held at other parks and schools in North San Diego County. January and February practices may be held at elementary schools in Encinitas.

For the 8U, 10U, 12U and 14U divisions, teams play one Saturday game and hold one weekday afternoon or evening practice each week until spring break. After the break, teams add a weekday evening game. The 6U/T-Ball division meets Saturdays only for 45 minutes of practice followed by a 45-minute game.

The registration fee covers a uniform jersey, practice shirt, socks, USA Softball registration, insurance, umpire fees, basic equipment and a picture package. The league supplies balls, catcher's gear and a limited number of pitcher's masks.

Divisions are based on birth year:

  • 6U: Sept. 1, 2019, through Aug. 31, 2021
  • 8U: Sept. 1, 2017, through Aug. 31, 2019
